Another leak from HTC. This time, their entire product portfolio for the first half of 2010 is available for all to see.
There appear to be eight handsets in the list, with the introduction of five Android phones, demonstrating a tip in the scales away from Windows Mobile (of which there will be only three phones running Windows Mobile 6.5).
The phones are being split up into four categories; Lifestyle, Social, Performance and Productivity.
There are two Android phones in this category; the HTC Salsa and the HTC Legend.
The Salsa has a full QWERTY keyboard below a 2.6-inch touchscreen, and resembles a slimmer and more stylish version of the Nokia E62 or the Blackberry Curve. The HTC Salsa is expected to be released in June 2010.
The Legend has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, and has a more recognisable look similar to the HTC Hero. The optical trackpad technology seen on the Sony Ericsson Xperia (made by HTC) makes an appearance here. The HTC legend is expected in March.
Making appearances here are the HTC Tide and the HTC Buzz. Both phones are quite stylish and seem to be targetted towards the style concious twittering teenager, with the Tide looking more like a traditional phone with a colourful design and the Buzz coming with a range of interchangable designer backplates.
Both phones run Android, but the Buzz seems to carry more punch with a 5 megapixel instead of a 3.2 megapixel camera and a larger 3.2-inch touchscreen. The HTC Tide is expected in April and the HTC Buzz later in May.
You might have guessed it… The Performance category is where the HTC Snapdragon Android based phone will make an appearance. It will be called the HTC Bravo and will have a 1GHz processor, a huge 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, microSD expandibility for music and video plus pretty good battery life.
By all accounts, a HD phone in terms of both audio and video, being able to record 720p video using its built-in 5 megapixel camera. The camera also comes with great features like autofocus and a flash.
Expect it in shops after April 2010.
This seems to be the catchall category for the Windows Mobile devices. There will be three phones in this category; the HTC Photon, the HTC Trophy and the HTC Tera.
The Photon, due in April, sports a 3.2-inch screen, a 5 megapixel camera and a 600Mhz processor (which appears in all three Windows Mobile devices). Plus, it looks pretty neat, appearing to be quite slim and lightweight.
The Trophy, like the Salsa (and Nokia E62 and Blackberry Curve) hosts a QWERTY keyboard below a 3-inch touchscreen. Feature-wise, the phone is very similar to the Photon. Expect the HTC Trophy to appear in May 2010.
Finally the Tera, which shares a nice design feature that may be taken from the Xperia X1 and the G1 – an arc sliding QWERTY keyboard. The phone looks like it is designed to compete for top spot with the Nokia N97 but arguably falls short with a 3-inch screen and only a 3.2 megapixel camera. The release date for the Tera has not been leaked so watch this space.
